Before the leaves disappeared, I managed to find one of the places I had missed before - the edge of Berlin where it meets Potsdam. I found parks and water, remnants of the Wall, a brewery, a palace, a green house, and the crows investigating molehills you can just about see in the photo above.
The park on a sunny Sunday was a place of rehabilitation. I saw people with sticks, with crutches, with leg braces. Even the famous Cecilienhof, where Churchill, Truman and Stalin met to end WW2 and divide Europe into zones, was under repair. There was scaffolding around it and plastic sheeting over it.
I noticed people with red hair, the colour of the trees, and wondered if they felt particularly at home in autumn...
And a lost shoe placed on a fence post as if to invite narratives ...
