Farming again, original painting
Farming again, original painting
Acrylic painting on card, framed. Size, framed: 43 x 33 x 3 cm
This semi-abstract painting is of newly-dug land under the wide African sky. The new fence is to protect crops from cattle, signifying a return to security after conflict. It was inspired by a research visit to the Rift Valley in Kenya, recording a successful conflict transformation project in Maralal district. It celebrates the possibility of peace and the amazing work of peace-builders in difficult situations, and comes with a copy of the booklet Empathy in Making Change Happen which tells the story of the Maralal project.
The painting is float mounted in a white, deep box frame, and glazed, and is similar in proportions to The Space.
